Brewery reveals cynical Fake News Ale directed at Trump

Make beer great again with this opportunity to drink your contempt for the American political climate, thanks to a Toronto craft brewery’s new session ale. Northern Maverick Brewing Co. criticizes President Donald Trump with its release of a themed beer called Fake News Ale. With an animated picture of the man himself plastered onto the can, Fake News Ale pokes fun at the political climate south of the border, making light of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s comments about “fake news” and “alternative facts.”

“This is sort of our way of speaking out,” said Jason Kaptyn, the brewery’s founder. “We chose Fake News Ale, parodying the American President because I think something for us is we grew up with news like CNN and the New York Times, so when they were being called ‘fake news,’ I think it sort of surprised us a little.”

Their first beer, Fake News Ale is marketed to pair well with small hands, striking comb overs, huge egos and all things Mexican.

Jason hopes the pale ale can bring some humour in a time of political challenge. However, the brewery says it’s hard-lined on how it plans to combat what it calls “questionable policy” decisions by U.S. President. Northern Maverick Brewing Co. stands in solidarity with its American neighbours in their time of need for beer. Therefore, the company is donating 5 percent of every Fake News Ale can be sold to help reverse a questionable policy. People are invited to nominate and vote for which cause will receive the charitable donation on their website.

“We’ve committed at looking at causes that have been directly impacted by the administration,” Jason explains.

He estimates between 20 and 25 percent of the profits for this beer will be donated. And this beer is the first in a line of charitable beers that will be offered; hoping to roll out a new beer every 6 to 18 months. Northern Maverick Brewing Co. is set to open in August along Bathurst Street, just north of King Street West in Toronto. While no American president has endorsed this beer, do you think Trump will fire back?
