World’s most expensive Starbucks drink is 128 ounces

A man by the name of Andrew Chifari has broken Beau Chevassus’s record for ordering the world’s most expensive Starbucks drink. The drink in question is called the Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino.

It contains 60 shots of espresso and costs $54.75US in total. Andrew didn’t actually hand over that much money for his 128-ounce espresso milkshake. He’s a Gold member of Starbucks’ loyalty program, which entitles him to one free drink after every twelve that he buys. The free drink coupon entitles him to any drink available; the only limits, it seems, was his imagination and what the baristas would let him get away with.

Andrew went to the barista and said, “So, this might sound a little weird; but I saw a video on youtube where a guy orders the most expensive Starbucks drink. I want to beat the record.”

The cashier had seen the video and together they figured out how to make a record-busting drink that would fit in his cup; and break the record for most expensive Starbucks drink. It took 10 minutes for the staff to make, and Andrew tweeted this accomplishment before drinking 20 shots.

Starbucks representative Linda Mills commented that customers are not encouraged to order such a drink as it is inedible and unsafe. It is also important to note that Andrew’s drink contains 4.5 grams of caffeine: 10 grams being lethal to adults.
