Some of the best images from the solar eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, millions of people across the northern hemisphere tried to catch a glimpse of the solar eclipse. In fact, according to Netflix, they lost 10 percent of their usual viewership during the solar eclipse.

And while Netflix may have lost out, others cashed in. According to Billboard, digital download sales of Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart increased by 503 percent in the week ending August 20; leaping to the number 1 slot on iTunes. Pandora meanwhile reported Monday that the song had spiked 4,136 percent in spins on their music listening service.

Towns and cities also benefited. For a mere 1 hour and 33 minutes, the US was the place to be for the moon to fall into alignment. A total solar eclipse covered a narrow portion of Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. And a partial one was visible across the all of North America, parts of South America, Africa, and Europe. This was the first time since 1918 when North America experienced the the same event.

Because of its rarity and popularity, plenty of people immortalized the awe-inspiring moment in photos. Below is a small collection of the best of them; just in case you missed the phenomenon or can’t get enough of it. Take a look.
