Starbucks to ban porn in its stores, so YouPorn bans them from offices

Apparently Starbucks doesn’t want its customers using their free WiFi to look at porn. Enough Is Enough, a nonprofit dedicated to internet safety, created a petition calling for the coffee chain to block access to explicit materials.

Enough Is Enough argued Starbucks’ open network allowed people to browse illegal pornographic content, and gave youths a means of ducking parental internet control. After garnering more than 26,000 signatures, Starbucks has decided to begin blocking porn websites starting in January from its public access WiFi in the US.

“To ensure [Starbucks] remains safe and welcoming to all, we have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores,” a Starbucks representative said.

Aside from the obvious question of who watches porn in a Starbucks, the other question is: Seriously, who the hell is watching porn in a Starbucks?! Watching porn in a Starbucks has always been forbidden, however, the company didn’t have the technological means to enforce the ban until now.

YouPorn bans Starbucks from their offices

And just when you thought it made sense to ban porn watching in public places, adult entertainment company YouPorn has apparently responded with a blanket ban on Starbucks products in its offices.

In a memo from Charlie Hughes, VP of YouPorn, he stated: “In light of the news that Starbucks has blocked customers from searching and viewing adult content within their establishments, Starbucks products will officially be banned from the YouPorn offices, effective January 1st, 2019.”

While Enough Is Enough noted that other food chains like McDonald’s, Chick-fil-a, and Subway were filtering out explicit content long before Starbucks, YouPorn’s office ban apparently doesn’t extends to them.

Meanwhile, adult site Pornhub has found a workaround regarding Starbucks’ new policy by introducing a Safe For Work category.
