Starbucks coffee is known for offering seasonal drinks like Unicorn Frappuccinos and Pumpkin Spice lattes. But for the first time, Starbucks patrons will be able to warm up with a beer-flavoured coffee: the Dark Barrel Latte.
Starbucks new drink should appeal to both coffee and beer lovers. The coffee chain promises customers that while the coffee tastes like beer, there is no actual alcohol in the drink.
The Dark Barrel Latte adds flavoured syrup to espresso; and with freshly steamed milk, it mirrors the taste of dark beers like Guinness. The drink is topped with whipped cream and drizzled with dark caramel sauce; it will also come with a Frappuccino option.
The chain’s marketing materials say that the flavour was inspired by the “rise of craft beers.” So how does it taste?
“Basically tastes like a beer but with espresso,” one customer writes.
“Yuck,” offers another.
The Dark Barrel Latte is only available in selected test markets and there’s no word on when, or if, the drink will go wide. But in the meantime, you can also check out the world’s most expensive starbucks drink.
