A device that simulates tomorrow’s weather in a box

Designed by Ken Kawanmoto, this facinating weather device elegantly simulates tomorrow’s forecast in a small translucent box. This novel device called the ‘Tempescope’ is an ambient physical display that visualizes weather conditions like rain, clouds and lightning. Receiving weather forecasts from the Internet, the Tempescope displaying tomorrow’s forecast in your living room.

Starting out as a weekend project, with Kawanmoto making the first prototype from shampoo bottles, an open source version has been made available for those who want to try their hand at building the device. A commercial version is currently being developed, which should be ready for release sometime this year.
