The world’s most expensive potato chips

I’ve previously brought you some of the world’s most expensive food items; like the Glamburger, Juuni Ban hot dog, a $900 cupcake, and Krispy Kreme doughnut. Now, Swedish beer-makers, St. Erik’s Brewery, has created what is the world’s most expensive potato chips to go with their high-quality craft beer.

“We felt that we were missing a snack of the same status to serve with [our beer]. A first-class beer deserves a first-class snack, and this is why we made a major effort to produce the world’s most exclusive potato chips,” St. Erik’s brand manager Marcus Friari said.

The potato chips are made using exclusive ingredients such as Matsutake, Truffle Seaweed, Leksand Onion, Crown Dill and Nordic Ammarnäs Potatoes. Each chip is delicately made by hand by the talented chefs of the Swedish National Culinary Team. This was to achieve the perfect balance with all the ingredients. These expensive potato chips are also meant to pair perfectly with St. Erik’s India Pale Ale.

One box contains 5 potato chips and is part of a very limited edition of 100 boxes. To guarantee the authenticity of the box and its contents, they are accompanied by a document of authenticity. Retailing at $75 CDN, that’s a hefty $15 per chip. So it had better taste damn good.

Unfortunately, the world’s most expensive potato chips are currently sold out on their website. However, proceeds from the chips are going to charity, according to the brewery.
