Popular, yet controversial, upskirt umbrellas
Japan loves its animation and has a lot of anime merchandise aimed at the market there and around the globe. Hoping to establish the theme of Crazy Japan around the world, a designer collective called Million Girls Project intends to produce everyday products with a bizarre, controversial twist. Recently they launched a new product line: upskirt umbrellas.
These unique umbrella will keep you dry, all while giving you the warm, fuzzy feeling taking shelter under the upskirt image of a wide-eyed anime character.
Playfully called the Un-Burera—which plays on the words “underwear” and “umbrella”—the creation took three years to complete. It comes in two designs; both of which does the job of sheltering you from the rain or heat while offering a brief, rather realistic peek up a female anime character’s skirt.
The umbrella designs were created to represent the vast majority of female anime characters in Japan—joshi kousei, commonly known as JK, or high school girls.
The upskirt umbrellas come with disclaimers that warn their users of potential extreme humiliation and to use it in public at your own risk.
What are your thoughts on this… unique product?
