10 ways to spice up your hot chocolate
Winter weather is here and the best way to warm those cold toes and hands is a cup of hot cocoa. But what if you’re not in the mood for the traditional and are looking for something different?
To help spice up our hot chocolate, Patricia Conte of SheKnows has collected the best hot cocoa recipes and whipped up a neat infographic to present them to us. The chart contains ten great hot chocolate recipes–at least one of which will probably make your mouth water. From the trendy pumpkin spice recipe, to the much-adored Nutella recipe, all of the flavours are truly devious.
Hot Chocolate combinations
- Peppermint: 1 cup of whole milk, 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of peppermint extract
- Orange: 1 cup of milk, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, 1/2 tablespoon of grated orange zest and 2oz of dark chocolate
- Vegan: 1 cup vanilla almond milk, 1-1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons coconut palm sugar
- Aztec: 1 cup of milk, 5oz chopped dark chocolate, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and a tiny pinch of cayenne
- Peanut Butter: 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 4oz chopped milk chocolate and 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter
- Pumpkin Spice: 1 teaspoon of maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, 1 cup whole milk and 1 teaspoon unsweetened dark cocoa
- Nutella: 1 cup whole milk, 2 tablespoons of Nutella, 1 tablespoon cocoa and a pinch of salt
- Caramel: 5oz chopped milk chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup heavy cream and 3 tablespoons of caramel sauce
- Lavender White: 1 cup whole milk, 1/4 teaspoon of lavender buds and 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips
- Irish: 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 2oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
