Draw electrical circuits with this silver ink pen

This may look like just a normal marker, but it’s much more than that. However using the conductive properties of silver found in the ink, you can turn your doodles into a functioning electrical circuit.

This pen by Tokyo-based startup AgIC can transmit electricity with its silver ink. The name AgIC is a nod to the chemical system for silver, Ag, along with the initials IC, which stand for “Ink Circuit”. The idea sprang into life after a Kickstarter campaign, which was successfully funded last year.

You can see it in action in this cool video by Japanese infrastructure company Kandenko. A tiny 3D miniature paper town comes to life as the pen simultaneously conducts electricity as a person draws lines. The pen is available for sale on Amazon for $15.

It looks and feels just like a normal marker pen. Aside from that, it’s a great way to get kids interested in electronics or even just being creative. Although bear in mind, they can only guarantee it works if you also buy their specialized paper.
