French company releases Star Wars-themed cookware line
The premium cast iron cookware brand Le Creuset is a favourite among chefs and foodies alike. Their latest line, however, may become beloved with a new demographic: Star Wars fans.
Le Creuset is no stranger to Disney collaborations. They’ve designed cookware such as Mickey Mouse ramekins, Beauty and the Beast Dutch ovens, and red apple-shaped casserole dishes, a la Snow White. And now, starting November 1st, Le Creuset is dropping a collection inspired by the cult sci-fi series, Star Wars.
You would think that between Star Wars movies, TV shows, comics, and collectibles, Lucasfilm is cooking up enough ways for fans to connect with the galaxy far, far away. Apparently it’s not enough. Now they have come up with a way for you to celebrate your love for the franchise while cooking.
The products featured in the Star Wars cookware collection look impressive, to say the least. Among the highlights is a roaster that memorializes when Han Solo was frozen in carbonite, retailing at $450, and a Darth Vader Dutch oven for $395. Die-hards might also appreciate the Tatooine-themed Dutch ovens, a 3.5 quart-sized piece featuring a gradation of pink and lilac hues and hand-painted circles that pay homage to the desert planet’s binary sunsets — for $900. If those are a little pricy, you can get Droid Mini Cocottes for $30. Millennium Falcon and Death Star trivets are $20, and a Porg pie bird is $25.
If you’re wondering why these products are so expensive, Le Creuset is a 94-year-old premium French cookware manufacturer, known for its high-quality French ovens and other types of cookware. Marketing agency FerebeeLane, which has worked with Le Creuset since 2004, was also involved in the brand’s previous collaboration with Disney. The agency worked alongside the client to create the new product line as a way to create conversation and reach a new audience that may not have been familiar with the brand.
