Real estate ad for a $100 million mansion is basically softcore porn
You’ll hear the phrase often when you enter the advertising industry: sex sells. But do people really buy a product just because it has sexually stimulating imagery attached to it? For this US$100 million OPUS mansion in Beverly Hills, half-naked women covered in gold paint star in a NSFW real estate ad that’s basically softcore porn.
As with many expensive things, the ad starts off with a bang; in this case, a woman pleasuring herself to orgasm. From there you’ll be keeping your eyes peeled, because things get more extravagant from there. And of course by things, I mean the mansion’s interior features.
Nile Niami, a movie producer turned developer, designed the luxury mansion; as well as a home for P. Diddy.
“As night falls on Opus, the house has a very alluring and undeniably sexy vibe that needed to be captured,” he says about his vision for the video. “I kept telling the director ‘Go darker… go sexier…’ and was thrilled to see the results; a woman who is transformed and empowered by the beauty of Opus.”
The ad tells the tale of a modern day Cleopatra complete with golden ladies in waiting. It’s supposed to provide a sneak peek into a life where the boundaries are limitless; according to a release from the firm, but feels more like softcore porn.
Hilton & Hyland, who released the steamy trailer for Opus, has gold painted models showcasing the 20,500-square-foot home; featuring seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. It comes with a gold Lamborghini Aventador roadster and a gold Rolls-Royce Dawn inside the car museum that has room for 10 vehicles. Watch the ‘softcore porn’ video below and see if you can spot the $100 million mansion.
So does sex sell? The answer is yes. It’s a fact. Popular men’s magazines like Maxim and FHM have experimented often with their covers. Overwhelmingly, when a sexy, half-naked woman appears on the cover, it outperforms an image of a male star; even if that star is someone men want to read about. When ads are more sexually provocative, men in particular are irresistibly drawn to them. It’s simple genetics. And if your ad creates a sexual situation, it will get the desired response.
