Chocolate pencils for people who love art and chocolate
Acclaimed Japanese design studio Nendo has been credited for designing creations like chocolate paint and ice cream cakes that resemble villages. However, before these creative food ideas came another lesser known creation: chocolate pencils.
Based on Tokyo-based patissier Tsujiguchi Hironobu’s impression of Nendo, he created a dessert that comes with its own chocolate pencils and sharpener. The pencils come in a number of cocoa blends that vary in intensity; much like real pencils that come in HB, B, 2B and so on. Chocoholics can use the special pencil sharpener to grate chocolate onto their dessert.
Nendo wanted to present the pencils as if it were art. And while pencil shavings are usually unwanted, these chocolate pencil shavings are the most perfect accompaniment to your cake.
