Eco-friendly dog house design boasts impressive features
Showing that eco-friendly building concepts are applicable to even our canine friends, California-based architecture and interior design firm Studio Schicketanz has designed a dog house unlike any other.
Made with eco-friendly materials and boasting some pretty incredible features, this doggy dream house is more than just a shelter. Its continuous green carpet encourages pups to interact with the house from top to bottom. It has a sleeping space with built-in drainage for easy cleaning and even a solar-powered fan so your dog is kept cool on hot, summer days.
The eco-friendly dog house has a side green-carpeted ramp that leads up to the green roof, which is installed with a motion-activated water faucet and irrigation system. Window cutouts lets your canine peer out on either sides of the dog house. There’s also a concealed compartment on its exterior to store doggy treats, toys, and other accessories.
The eco-friendly dog shelter was on display at the Carmel Canine Cottages Competition. After the event, the structure was auctioned off, with all funds going to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
Designed to be both functional and sustainable, the dog house was inspired by Studio Schicketanz’s focus on creating landscape, architecture and interior design with a focused emphasis on livability. The dog house itself its handsomely simple and may be a one-of-a-kind home, but with the right DIY skills, you can build a similarly sustainable paradise for your pup.
