Australian burger chain Huxtaburger will be offering a distinctly creepy burger on Halloween. And just so you know, the extra crunch in this burger isn’t from the crispy lettuce. Rather, it’s the healthy serving of mealworms.
The Bugstaburger features edible mealworms and a generous smearing of ant mayo; all on the classic Huxtaburger’s beef patty, cheese, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, lettuce and pickles. However, it’s also placed between a bright blue bun.
Huxtaburger announced on its Facebook page that the Melbourne City Centre location will be offering a special Bugstaburger for today (Halloween) only.
“Do you have the balls to take the plunge?” Huxtaburger’s Facebook posting asked. “Tag your mates and DARE to them to try it…we did.”
While edible insects may look hard to swallow, they pack a punch; being labelled as the next superfood that provides an excellent source of sustainable protein. In fact, some even consider them to be incredibly delicious.
If you happen to be in Melbourne today, you can bite into this unusual burger for $10.50. And if you want a more traditional Halloween treat, here’s how to pair wine with candy.
