KFC is throwing chicken-themed weddings in Australia

If you’ve ever dreamt of marrying the one you love at a fast-food restaurant, here’s your chance. KFC Australia is offering a wedding package to couples to legally tie the knot Kentucky Fried Chicken style. The fast-food chain is organizing and paying for six chicken-themed weddings for couples who are planning to get married between November 2019 and May 2020.

If you can’t think of anything more romantic than sharing a bucket of the Colonel’s finest with your one true love, then there’s nowhere better. According to the official website, the concept was rolled out in response to a number of couples who have previously proposed at KFC.

“Over the years we have heard of some incredible proposals from fans taking place in our restaurants in Australia and around the world,” Nikki Lawson, managing director at KFC Australia, said via a press release.

What goes together better than fried chicken and weddings?

Open to residents of Australian only, interested parties can sign up for the one-of-a-kind experience as long as they are over the legal age of 18. The full package includes a supply of its famous fried chicken out of a KFC food truck. There will also be chicken-themed decorations, music, activities, and more for each of the weddings. The wedding venue can accommodate up to 200 guests and is chosen specifically by the couple, so KFC is mostly in charge of the food and entertainment.

All the costs of the offerings within the package are covered by the KFC. External costs for venue invites and alcohol will be left to the participants. In order to score a free reception, couples have to submit 200 words online by October 18 describing why a KFC wedding would be their dream celebration. A committee will then choose the six couples based on the creativity and originality of their responses. All gender and sexual preferences are welcomed.
