I’ve previously done posts on unique lip art creations from makeup artists like Andrea Reed and Ryan Kelly. Now it’s makeup artist Jazmina Daniel‘s turn in the spotlight. Jazmina has quite a following on social media and once you see her impressive work, I’m sure you’ll become a fan too.
Loved by Instagram’s beauty community, this Sydney-based artist creates beautiful cartoons, movie scenes and colourful designs on her lips. These drawings are so detailed and precise that it’s hard to believe they can be done on someone’s lips.
Just prior to Jazmina’s 15th birthday she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Because of her health, she had to leave school and complete her studies from home. This left her with a lot of down-time while they continued to monitor the tumour with hospital visits and scans.
“I started playing with makeup and discovered I had a real passion for it. It helped me block out everything else that was going on — it was therapeutic.”
At age 17 the tumour, which was very near to the part of her brain which controlled speech and movement, began to grow aggressively and she was forced to make the difficult decision to have it surgically removed.
Dedicated to her craft
Jazmina, who goes by MissJaminad online, became equally adept at lip art and manicures that emulate marble as well as pop culture. From designs inspired by The Little Mermaid and The Wizard of Oz to striking glitter and floral patterns, she’s majorly upped the beauty stakes. Most recently, Jazmina showed off a beautiful Finding Dory themed look with a nod to the new movie.
Jazmina usually tries to plan out lip art. But whenever the inspiration strikes, she starts working. Some of the more detailed lip arts can take up to 8 hours, since she might have to start over a few times, especially with liquid to matte lipsticks that can crack and flake with multiple layers.
If you love these makeup designs and want to learn how to do it yourself, her YouTube channel contains many tutorials on how to recreate them.
