Online retailer Fashion Nova is seen as an affordable option for average customers to purchase some of the most in-style pieces of apparel. And through partnerships with celebrities like Cardi B and JWoww, the brand has become popular on Instagram, turning into a household name. However, they’ve also been known to create some bold—and often borderline strange—fashion statements.

Their latest fashion design, called Sunshine See Through Coverup Chaps, has caused a bit of controversy on social media. Why? Because these butt-baring pants are essentially assless chaps. The design features a high waist and ruffled legs, and when worn, your entire crotch and butt are on full display. And New York-based writer and editor Alexandra Mondalek, who runs the blog Haute Takes, pointed out that the pants are essentially transparent.

Not all consumers seems to agree on whether these butt-baring pants should be a staple of swim attire or left at the strip club.
