Powerful ads warn about the dangers of child neglect
Child neglect comes in many forms including the failure to provide basic physical, healthcare, nutrition, emotional, education and supervision needs. And statistics have shown that more children suffer from neglect in the United States than from physical and sexual abuse combined.
In fact, 14 percent of victims experienced maltreatment such as abandonment, threats of harm to the child, and congenital drug addiction. Unfortunately, behaving negligent with a child also encourages bigger problems.
In the following powerful ads created by agency D/Araújo Comunicação for Brazilian social organization Fórum Catarinense, they warn against the dangers posed by child neglect.
The two ads feature parents unwittingly exposing their young children to a gun and a bottle of alcohol.
The ads read, “Negligence is the lack of physical, emotional and educational care. A sad reality that can open the doors to criminality, school abandonment, sexual abuse, domestic accidents, many times leading to death.”
They end with a call to dial a hotline to report suspected cases of negligence or abuse. Take a look at the ads below and share your thoughts with us.
