Swiss movement watches inspired by camera designs

After 200 years of popularity, the wrist watch is slowly dying out because of smartphone technology and the fact that Gen Z can’t read non-digital clocks. While I wouldn’t expect to see watches disappear completely in the next decade, they are still a fashion accessory worn by plenty of men and women. Demand may be low, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some beautiful designs out there. And if you’re a photographer, you might enjoy these watches in particular. They combine the design elements of classic film and modern digital cameras.

Designed with photography enthusiasts in mind, the Foto Nouveau watch collection are stylish, high-quality time pieces. The water-resistant watches are crafted from high-quality components, including sapphire crystals, Swiss-made Ronda movements, a stainless steel case, and a calf leather strap. Each of the cases are reminiscent of a camera lens and features elements of a focus ring and lens mount.

Foto Nouveau camera-inspired watch collection

The collection of Swiss movement watches, which launched on Kickstarter, features two designs: the Viewfinder watches are inspired by viewfinders and autofocus points; the Objective watch are inspired by 50mm prime lenses and the glass lens element closest to the subject. Funding from the campaign went to marketing expenses for the watches’ public release, with pledges starting from US$225 for a watch ($100 off the expected retail price).
