HBO & Oreo recreate Game of Thrones opening with 2,750 cookies

The 2 year-long wait is almost over. And if all the Game of Thrones marketing tie-ins have done their job, your season 8 premiere party on April 14 will most likely be stocked with Bud Light and Oreo cookies. Why the Oreos you may ask? Well, to celebrate the final season, Oreo has released a special line of limited-edition cookies. Embossed with the emblems of House Lannister, House Targaryen, House Stark, and the Night King, the limited-edition cookies hit shelves back on April 8

Oreo and HBO even collaborated with creative agency 360i and Elastic — the creator of the original opening credits — to make the tribute version. The resulting ad re-creates the credits using 2,750 Oreos as they stack, fold, and twirl to form the map of Westeros and Essos.

The video features the seats of the remaining houses, as well as the Wall up in the North, that, unfortunately, did not hold back the army of dead as we’ve last seen it. As the main title song, composed by Ramin Djawadi, hits the first notes, we see King’s Landing rise from a field of crème filling, with the towers of the Red Keep circling up. Then, as the camera shifts to the island east of King’s Landing, we’re presented with the cookie version of Dragonstone. Finally, the video showcases the North, Winterfell, and Castle Black with the rising wall in the background.

According to Oreo representatives, some very lucky fans might get a special surprise for pledging their fealty on social media using #GameofCookies and #ForTheThrone hashtags.

The 8th and final season of Game of Thrones airs on 14th of April. Are you ready?
