How can we make our work days more effective? The details will likely vary depending on your profession and responsibilities, but there are still universal hacks we can all apply.

You can do some simple things like picking your clothes for tomorrow or making sure that you get a good 6-8 hours of sleep. Try not to get angry or stressed—even over small things—it only makes the day unpleasant. Unexpected and unwanted things happen, that’s life, and the people around you understand that.

To help take the stress out of your day, document management company Outbox Documents has created the following infographic. Listing tips for 9 times in your day, this useful guide show how you can have the perfect day at work. Take a look:

How to have the perfect day at work

The night before

Preparation is key. Put out tomorrow’s clothes, make your lunch and make sure you get 6-8 hours of sleep

Morning

Don’t press the snooze button, have an energizing breakfast and try to fit in some exercise which will help you start your day positively.

The commute

It has been proven that a bit of pessimism will improve your commute—expect the traffic, bad weather and delays and you’ll be pleasantly surprised when (or if) they don’t happen.

9am to 11am

Now that you’ve arrived energized and raring to go, this is the best time to do your most important tasks. Don’t waste time checking emails, dive right in and do those large and difficult tasks you’re most likely to put off. You do your best work in the morning when your brain is rested.

11am

Check your email mid-morning; any tasks which come out of them would’ve distracted or sidelined you earlier in the day.

1pm – Lunch

If the weather is nice, eat in a park or a similar green space. This will help stress levels and refresh your mind. Pair a health lunch with a brisk walk and a phone call with a loved one, and you’ll have a perfect lunch break to prepare you for a perfect afternoon.

2pm to 4pm

Another burst of productivity should come after lunch—place your mid-level tasks in this part of the day, and give emails another check.

4pm to 5pm

As you start to slow down near the end of the day, focus on organization tasks—clearing emails, organizing documents, sorting out to-do lists, populating your calendar and, most importantly, looking at the big tasks you want to do the next day.

Evening

Mastering the work/life balance is an incredibly important part of having a perfect day at work. Don’t check your email in the evening, however tempting it may be. Prepare for your next morning and relax.

Thanks for reading and hopefully you’ll have a perfect day at work.
